I wanted to set up a fund in memory of my Grandad who had several strokes in later life. He was partially paralysed and didn't regain his speech after the early ones, although through his own determination he did regain some independence - in fact independent enough to get married again. However he couldn't come back from them all and the thought of supporting research into Stroke, which will lead to a world where fewer people go through what he had to is one that I think is worth striving for. I will always remember my Grandad, but I also remember him with my donations to the Stroke Association. If you, like me, believe that a world with fewer strokes and where every stroke survivor gets the help and support they need to make the best possible recovery, is one worth striving for, then I would encourage you to do the same thing.
